The Annemarie Opprecht - Foundation was established in 1998 and sponsored by Annemarie Opprecht, a Swiss philantropist.

The specific aim of the Foundation is to promote medical, or medical related research in the field of Parkinson's disease on an international level.

Therefore the Foundation presents at regular intervals the Annemarie Opprecht Parkinson Award in the amount of 100'000 Swiss francs.

The next award will be presented for the fourth time in the year 2008.

Previous awards were presented in 1999, 2002 and 2005.

 

 


Award Winner 2008:

There were 11 applicants who all have submitted a scientific work of outstanding quality which made the decision to the price committe extremely difficult.

The committee finally has elected:

John Hardy, Professor of Neuroscience Institute of Neurology, University College, Queen Square, London

and

Andrew B. Singleton, Chief of Molecular Genetics Section and Acting Chief of the Laboratory of Neurogenetics, National Institute on Aging, National Institutes of Health, Bethesda. Maryland USA


Award Presentation:

October 30th, 2008, in Basle/Switzerland at the annual joint scientific meeting of the Swiss Neurological Society and the Swiss Society for Psychiatry.
